En Ka Social Services announces

a  new program and

an "old" program in a new way!

This summer En Ka Social Services continues to work alongside Winchester Got Lunch, Winchester Public Schools Administration, and other partners in town to provide support to those in need.

En Ka Summer Books Program:  En Ka has supported the public schools summer books program financially for many years.  As with many endeavors this year, we learned that the usual process was not going to work.  Typically the books that En Ka purchases are delivered to and distributed by the school specialists prior to the end of the school year.  This could not happen this year since our school buildings have been closed since March.  We are pleased to report that En Ka worked with the schools to develop a new program that has resulted in En Ka managing the requests for and delivery of books to  our students!  Book deliveries are happening over the next week.

Special thanks to En Ka member Judy Manzo, owner of Book Ends, and her team who were a critical partner in the success of this program.

En Ka Pantry Opening:

Work has been ongoing these past weeks to ready the room at 1037 Main Street to welcome our first visitors to the new En Ka Pantry beginning August 14th.

We will, as always, also be relying upon each member and our community supporters to help spread this exciting news.

One important point:

Monthly visits to En Ka Pantry do not impact a resident’s opportunity to also visit the food pantry at the Woburn Council of Social Concern.  In fact, visiting both pantries each month is encouraged.

The Woburn pantry is equipped with refrigeration and an abundance of space that enables them to stock and supply meats, produce, and dairy products.  En Ka Pantry will stock and provide non-perishables only.
